Portland Roses originate from Great Britain and are a small collection of roses developed from four different rose species. With a fondness toward summer blooming, this short shrub (usually less than 12 inches tall), produces a uniquely petite bloom. The wide, open petals spray their color over the vivid green foliage. Occasionally, the Portland Rose will flower once but may continue its blooms into the autumn months. Portland Roses are a small but attractive group that was popular for a few years before the arrival of the Bourbon Rose. They are particularly valuable because they repeat flower well, while remaining very close to the old roses in flower, foliage and fragrance.
