We are a maritime Alaska climate and all bets are off whether we will have anywhere from a Zone 3 to 5 winter. This year it depended on which month as well. I made a mistake in mulching but not wrapping this thorny treasure and lost 5 in one blow. We had a freeze then a thaw then snow then thaw then a hard freeze down to about 5-7 degrees which persisted for 2 weeks. That did it!. This lovely rose is enchanted in color from the yellow buds to the variations in hue from yellow to apricot to yellow, huge blooms with gorgeous petal formation and wonderful fragrance. It is a one time bloomer but lasts as it bunches. This has moved to the top of the roses we grow in our garden as my favorite. (Posted on 6/23/2018)
I'm in love with this brute.Review by MHR

I've grown this rose for five years. The first year, he was ruthlessly mown over twice, then transplanted to a safer location. Of course, he died back and I thought he wouldn't make it...but then he rose. Now he sprawls six feet high and six feet wide on sturdy, viciously thorny canes. The prickles are savage, but the bloom is worth every drop of blood. A heart-melting apricot blend of pinks, peaches, and pale orange, I look forward to this bloom all year. Beautifully fragrant, with a gorgeous little button center. And the vigor of the plant impresses me deeply. This is not a tame rose, but I think he may be my favorite (shh...don't tell the others.)
