Beautiful, huge bloomsReview by Alexa

I love this rose! The blooms are huge! It is such a pretty "candy red" color, and the fragrance is very intense! I planted this in early June, and started having blooms around the end of July. The bush itself hasn't grown a whole lot yet, but that may be because all of its energy went to the blooms. The only negative is that the beatles and slugs LOVE it too. They aren't on any of my other rose, but they have torn this one up! Still trying to find a good pesticide. (Posted on 9/18/2018)

This rose arrived in great condition and bloomed beautifully all summer. The blooms are huge and gorgeous. They are a little more pinkish red in the high heat than I had hoped, but closer to the picture red in cooler temperatures. Really looking forward to what this Bush brings in it’s second season. I'm in Colorado, Zone 5, and we have very intense sun. In fact, the local Rose Society recommends afternoon shade for roses in our area as a result. Anyway, I ordered and planted one of these this year, and it's just started blooming. The blooms are huge and the flowers are NOT burning as sometimes happens with some red roses around here.

I have it planted next to a Neil Diamond I bought locally for comparison, and Alec went in about 2 weeks after Neil. I think the Neil Diamond pot was larger but Alec has grown to a similar size though Neil bloomed first since it had a head start. The blooms of the two roses are very similar in size and overall structure, which the primary difference being color, of course.

Fragrance is really beautiful and strong, though I think Neil might be a touch stronger for comparison. Alec has a wonderful, deep rose scent, and a gorgeous red color with huge blooms.

So far I'm absolutely loving this rose and totally recommend it. I'm so happy I bought it, and would totally go for it again. :) (Posted on 8/11/2018)

I live in San Diego; Alec's Red began blooming soon after planting - has done well. Gorgeous rose scent; blooms open in beautiful whorl - perfectly formed and last about a week. Very happy with this rose! (Posted on 7/22/2018)

I love this rose. I lost my first one from HR due to neighbor spraying Round Up weed control on windy days. That situation taken care of I ordered another Alec's Red, gallon pot. In less than 3 weeks I had gorgeous huge red blooms from this plant. And the scent is heavenly. If I had room, I'd order more! (Posted on 9/29/2017)

I have had it a year and the bush is not yet large and is in a large pot. So far am getting nice huge blooms with great rich color and nice scent. I have a new Mr Lincoln and look forward to a comparison. (Posted on 4/19/2017)

I LOVE this Rose.....I've had 3 plants over the span of 14 years....the first traveled the country with us when we were full time RVers.....the second plant was purchased when we put down roots in Florida in 2009, and this most recent purchase this year was to replace #2 that was damaged by a falling tree limb......Everyone who comes into our yard quickly is drawn to this rose by its color, SIZE, and fragrance....All my roses come from Heirloom Roses....wouldn't buy from anyone else!!!!! I absolutely love this rose! The rose size is huge! The smell is very musk and spicy! When making a bouquet I end up throwing out all the other roses and fill the vase with just Alec's Red! Maybe add in some tiny flowers but my goodness this rose is a pop! I was hesitant to buy it because it looks a tad pink in the picture but on the green of the bush it is a gorgeous red! I live in Missouri zone 5 or 6 and I never had a problem with the roses. I had a few problems with the leaves but other than that it is one of my favorites! My other is Aloha! (Posted on 2/9/2017)
Beautiful Fragrant RoseReview by Cynthia

I have a very small courtyard garden. So any rose that gets to stay must be great. Alec's Red is a beautiful Red Rose with great old rose fragrance. Has been hardy and not much bothered by black spot which is a problem in the Southeast. I bought it because it wasn't an overly large shrub, as space is an issue for me. Had never heard of it before. Very happy I took a chance on it. Couldn't have asked for a better fragrant red rose. (Posted on 5/27/2016)

I planted this rose in the spring of 2014 in our new rose garden. It thrived producing many beautiful, very fragrant perfect blooms; in fact, once it started blooming it never stopped. We kept comparing its fragrance to the other roses and boy - close call on which was the best - Mr. Lincoln or Alec's Red. I have ordered two more to have plenty for bouquets. (Posted on 1/14/2015)

Great rose for inland Pacific NWReview by Jim

We purchased Alec's Red this past spring, followed Heirloom's planting instructions, and have periodically applied a liquid fertilizer (MiracleGro) designed to support root growth / development.

We could not be happier with the results. In the couple months since planted, our Alec's Red has produced three big, fully double blooms and is continuing to grow vigorously as we head towards the beginning of summer.

Thanks Heirloom for offering such a great red rose ! (Posted on 6/11/2014)
