Coffee Bean™

Type: Miniature

This caffeinated cutie percolates in the garden, popping up one shapely bud after another set against deep glossy green leaves. It's not exactly like 'Dad' in color, but you can see the family tree - smoky red-orange inside and shiny rusty-orange on the outside. (More smoke in cool weather.) The well formed flowers open to reveal a bright eye that lights up in the garden.

Coffee Bean Review by Rowena

I am in the southern part of zone 7 Western North Carolina just on the N/S stateline, this summer is so far fairly brutal, very hot and humid, not fun at all. Coffee Bean is amazing like my two other minis, it is blooming its' little head off. I have it in a 12" X 12" black pot in full sun and it has four flowers and two buds on it already and has been like that almost from the moment it arrived. I am just blown away by these miniature roses. I have three of them and all three are just year after year so satisfying without any where near the work of the full sized roses. Coffee Bean color is just wonderful deep rust red against lovely dark green leaves and the Jap beetles and bug aren't terribly attracted to this rose. (Posted on 7/10/2018)
Unusual and beautiful color Review by Jamie

When I first got Coffee Bean it bloomed a smokey red, very rusty colored in our cool spring temps. Now that we here in San Antonio are having a Very Hot summer its blooming a blazing orange with a hint of red. Its a stunning color in cooler and in hotter weather. I love that it still has a great color interest in our heat and doesn't look 'washed' like many varieties can do in our summer heat. (Posted on 7/8/2018)
Fabulous Little Rose in an Unusual Smoky RedReview by Cynthe

Planted 'Coffee Bean' rose last year. Grew like crazy, blooming right from the start. Won a second place ribbon at our county's Harvest Fair - first time I had entered a rose competition.

Only drawback: Late autumn growth of strong new canes were frost damaged over the winter by our Zone 7B cold. If the canes were a bit hardier, it would be 5 Stars for sure. LOVE this rose! (Posted on 3/21/2018)
Another Enthusiastic BloomerReview by MomPerson

I somehow missed the fact that I was ordering a mini when I sent for this rose. When it burst into bloom, I suddenly had a bush full of tiny red roses! That's when I looked it up on the Heirloom site and sure enough, there it was in plain sight..Miniature! This is the second time this has happened, the first was with Cal-Poli, a miniature yellow rose. Aside from not being aware of what I was ordering, this rose has been a success from start to finish. I truly would love this rose if it weren't a mini. (Posted on 12/7/2017)
