Graham Thomas ®

Type: David Austin

Probably the most outstanding of all the English Roses. Breathtaking, double 4" blooms (petals 30+) of a magnificent shade of yellow with a texture that makes the old rose style blooms look almost too perfect to be real, having a mild tea fragrance. A great bush, vigorous, slender, and upright. In the South it may be trained as an outstanding climber. Whether trained as a climber or grown as a bush, `Graham Thomas' is sure to be one of the great roses of our time. Loves summer heat.

Last year I ordered 12 roses from Heirloom and all but my Graham Thomas are doing great. Heirloom promptly responded to my inquiry and a replacement is on its way. I'm sure it will do as well as the other 11 that are proving such beauty to my garden! (Posted on 5/12/2017)

This rose that thrived through years of neglect and CA drought. It thrives in the heat & sun, growing over 7 feet tall. Beautiful butter yellow blooms in abundance, soft English rose on vigorous sturdy canes. (Posted on 4/8/2017)
Lovely and Vigorous - and I Mean VigorousReview by YHW

This is the first David Austin Rose that I've tried, and I'm completely won over. I can't believe how fast it grows and how many buds cover my Graham Thomas bush right now (May in northern Virginia, zone 7a). I've put an 8' obelisk over it, and it is halfway up after less than a year, even with pruning. It grows like a monster! Northern Virginia is humid, but I haven't had problems with black spot. All that tender, juicy new growth attracted aphids in the spring, but other than that I have had no problems. I love the way the flowers look and can't wait for Graham Thomas to finish growing out. (The blooms near the bottom of the plant can drag it down, so expect to use some form of support.) (Posted on 5/26/2014)
A ClassicReview by linners

A lovely four foot shrub in my northern CA garden. Now in April it is covered in these gloriously cheerful yellow blooms. Deadhead to keep them coming all summer, but that's about the only care required. Mine is 20 years old, planted the year of son's Bar Mitzvah, very easy and healthy. I've just learned it can be grown as a climber, build a tripod around it and try that! (Posted on 4/20/2014)

short lived in zone 5 but still worth itReview by petermenlo

I live at the colder end of zone five and at best it will last about 3 or 4 years before being killed by frost. However that said it is such a special rose with a beautiful color and scent that it is still worth it.. grows to a lanky 5ft for me. (Posted on 12/4/2013)

Grew it in Portland OR, loved the flowers and constant bloom. Grew tall and a bit rangy had to try and keep it tied up, but it grew fast and vigorously almost too fast. (Posted on 9/18/2013)

I love this magnificent rose. Our current own root is going a bit slowly, but the weather here has been truly unstable. I'm sure Graham T. will flourish for us next spring as it did when we lived in Stockton CA. Now in Concord CA (Posted on 9/3/2013)
