Midnight Blue™

Type: Shrub

Yes, it's that purple and very fragrant. A black, velvet purple 2 1/2" rose
(petals 25+) with spice clove fragrance, like no other rose on the market. Despite being a shrub, the compact rounded plant will lend itself to smaller spaces and enrich any landscape. Bright green leaves contrast nicely to the mysteriously colored flowers with showy yellow stamens. Big clusters give lots of color on this popular continual blooming shrub.

I wish the blooms were larger to enjoy them more, but otherwise it is perfectReview by S. Holland
These are wonderfully scented. They also seem to change depths of color as they go from bud to aged bloom. I had them indoors, and they are doing well. We went on vacation and aphids attacked them pretty heavily. So be alert to the one small pest that will turn Into 200. Quickly. Blooms are extremely small. If these were larger it would be a perfect rose for cutting. These will be one of my favorite special additions to my garden. Thanks to my loving husband. :) (Posted on 9/26/2017)
Gorgeous!Review by MA Sang
Purchased a Midnight Blue just a couple of months ago, and it arrived in bloom. The flower really does look like a black/red velvet, and very fragrant! I thought that may be the only flower for this year, and planted it in my border. Today, 3 more buds are developing, and the leaves are shining and in perfect order.. I'm very pleased at this rose, especially it's behavior in it's first year. (Posted on 6/2/2017)
Beautiful!Review by Bovian
I purchased the rose last year. When it bloomed at the first time, I was disappointed. It was dark red. But this year, it turned to be dark purple and bright purple. I planted it in container. It is with plenty of little flowers with beautiful color. (Posted on 5/17/2016)
Survivor!Review by Carla
This was my first rose bush. Ordered in 2013. I planted in on a fence border...long story short life happened and I neglected it. It wasn't marked, so My husband accidentally tore it down with the weed eater because it was overtaken with weeds.I started my interest again with gardening this past year, planted 4 new ones. Was removing weeds and caring for the others and I noticed a rose leaf cluster in the grass and this baby was still trying to make it. With a little tlc it has been rejuvenated and is one of my best smelling bushes. Very pretty deeply colored blooms. My Heirloom bushes all outperform the ones bought at our local produce store. Unusually perfectReview by Breenette
I found these roses to be incredibly beautiful on the website so I had to see for myself - I ordered two of the a couple of years ago. One died - but the other ...oh man...the other was so gorgeous that I am now - a couple of years later - ordering two new ones. They are the most unusually beautiful and striking roses and I just LOVE them! (Posted on 10/11/2014)
Beautiful PurpleReview by CACheryl
My first year brought beautiful deep purple velvety blossoms. I have this plant in a pot on my porch. No signs of disease or aphids, seems very healthy. This is an unusual and attractive rose. (Posted on 5/4/2014)
Many many blooms...Review by Jessica_KY
I planted my Midnight Blue in the spring of 2012 and it flowered within weeks of planting. The blooms are a dark purple and it just seemed to keep blooming and blooming last year. Beautiful plant. At the end of last year (2013) it was about 3 ft x 2ft. (Posted on 4/11/2014)
Outstanding little rose!Review by Delphine
I live in zone 5 Vermont and this rose takes our winters easily. The color is divine and the scent wonderful, also. Great repeat, disease resistance and foliage. I highly recommend this rose as a specimen or to add a dark accent to lighter color roses. (Posted on 2/17/2014)
