I wrote this as a suggestion to someone on a Facebook rose group and while I was just re-reading it, I realized that it is basically a review! So, here goes:

“I live in Savannah, GA 8b and one of my absolute faves is Over the Moon. The first time it bloomed, I was looking out the window and gasped. It has very light shades of apricot, peach, pink, yellow, and cream that seamlessly shift and change. Each bloom is subtly different and glorious and surprising. The best part about it is that it looks like it’s glowing like a pearlescent moon. This rose will fit perfectly into any palette. Oh, and the blooms are 5”! I have 2 of these bushes and they do well in both full sun and partial shade in my experience. Also critical for my southern east coast roses- I haven’t noticed significant black spot or bug damage like some of my other roses.”

Lastly, what I should say, is that even though all of the pictures posted up above look different, they are all accurate. This rose looks slightly different depending on season, time of day, lighting, and even the angle you’re looking at it, but it never looks bad. The foliage is dark bluish green, which makes the blooms look even more luminous!! If you’re on the fence, this rose is a safe bet. It also works really well to tie incongruous colors together, so if you just bought a bunch of roses all willy nilly like I did, this rose will help make them make sense. I have one in between Neptune (dusty light purple) and Cinnamon Dolce (lipstick pink and bubble gum pink in an unreasonably cool tiny spot pattern) and the other between Blue For You (fades from magenta to dusty plum to almost blue over time) and Crystalline (white) and they look fantastic together. Not that I’m bragging or anything. ;)

It's time for us So. Cal. gardeners to cut back our roses, but this one is still blooming! I had to cut roses for my house just to prune this beauty. Disease resistant, outstanding color and blooms, everything about this rose is compelling

I was planning to buy Just Joey when Ina Garten showed it in her garden and on her table — and then I read that there is a Joey descendant with better disease resistance and robust growth: Over The Moon. I jumped at it.

This rose took a while to get established in zone 6a — my fault, as I did not take enough time to dig a large hole and fill it with ideal nutrients and compost. Nevertheless, Over The Moon is a winner now. The blooms are enormous and SO fragrant! The scent is delicious.

The color is remarkable — apricot with delicate nuances of blush pink or soft yellow, depending on the temperature, I think. During our recent heat wave (95°F, or near that, for several weeks), the bud-to-blossom transition was fast, 3 to 4 days. The huge full blossom lasted for almost two days. But there were plenty of buds, and the unfolding is gorgeous — everything you dream a rose can be.

There is almost no black spot, and it’s easily controlled by picking off the occasional yellow leaf. The Japanese beetles nibbled on 2 or 3 buds in July and then left this rose alone. No spraying or trapping.

Until 2020, this rose was largely neglected, but the production of blooms was good. Then the virus crisis gave me time in the garden, and the blooms are spectacular. Highly recommended!

I bought this rose on a "I can't stop thinking about it" when I thought I had no more room. Ha! I love this rose. I think the colors are better than pictured, I live in So Cal and with the heat comes this reddish edge to it, it is a vibrant peach otherwise with a tender sweet scent. Simply marvelous rose.
