Wollerton Old Hall

Type: David Austin

One of the most fragrant of all English Roses. Its strong, warm, intensely floral fragrance is in the myrrh family and has hints of apricot. The plump buds, with attractive flashes of red, open to form beautifully rounded, chalice-shaped blooms of soft apricot, which eventually pale to cream.

It forms a particularly healthy, upright bushy shrub with few thorns . It will combine wonderfully with other roses and perennials. Position this rose where its strong scent can be easily appreciated.

Named for Wollerton Old Hall, one of the most beautiful British gardens, where roses are grown to great effect in combination with other plants.

This is a lovely Rose......Review by BajanGal
Planted in Zone 7, thriving 2nd year rose, continual blooming, disease resistant, delicate apricot/yellow rose. Large and bushy with long shoots, needs space to bush out. Love it! (Posted on 7/30/2018)
Fragrance is not typical roseReview by Rosesofpoetry
I am growing this in zone 8 in the Pacific Northwest. It is beautiful, although the blossoms tend to droop downwards on the bush, also in a vase, so it's not the best cut flower, in my opinion. The form and color of the rose are great-- a soft, feminine kind of flower. However, the scent is not a typical old rose scent, which is what I was hoping for, as so many rave about the scent. My husband says it smells minty. It's definitely not citrus, or a damask kind of rose scent. More like a bottom note with no top note. I pick roses for disease resistance and fragrance, so that's been a disappointment on this one. (Posted on 5/31/2018)
StunningReview by Melanie
This rose is absolutely stunning. Buttery yellow, cupped blooms with a delicious fragrance. I planted it right next to my patio, and when it's blooming its scent wafts about the sitting area. This is it's first winter here (zone 5) and it's been a cold one, so we'll see how it looks in the spring, but so far it's absolutely a winner! (Posted on 1/3/2018)
fantasticReview by Gregory
This rose has bloomed repeatedly and put on quite a bit of growth in its first year. I can't wait to see this beauty a year from now. (Posted on 8/30/2017)
if i could only buy one roseReview by lin
Wollerton Old Hall has an intoxicating fragrance, a delicate pink-to-white color transition, unfolds into flawless form, and lasts well in a vase. I have 30 different English roses and Wollerton Old Hall is my favorite. I only wish it wasn't out of stock so often at HR. (Posted on 8/29/2017)
Auspicious Beginnings!Review by Alan
A beautifully formed specimen arrived well-secured for her journey and took to the new garden without issue. Now in August, there are signs of re-blooming. Precocious indeed. Great promise for the coming season. Thank you, Heirlooom, for such outstanding offerings!

Thriving!Review by Catherine
I too, bought this rose this year and it, along with another four are thriving. I keep thinking that I shouldn't let it bloom in order to become established but it's just so intent on blooming that I've relented to a point. The fragrance is fabulous and the puffy blossoms charming. However, my favorite of the five I bought is Compassion . . . . . (Posted on 7/29/2017)
It's gonna be special......Review by "Mo"
Before 'Old Wollerton Hall' arrived, I put up a special, large, strong trellis for it in anticipation. It's another new planting for me, but I am truly ready for this beauty to
grow, shine, and fill this trellis. It's working hard, having already produced a few blossoms, and those few have been so, so lovely. What a treat it will be to see it in full splendor just the other side of our carport every time we come-or-go. Thank you, Heirloom Roses for this beautiful, healthy offering.

Breathtaking!Review by Tiffany
I cannot say enough good things about this rose so far. I received it as a gallon pot this spring and its produced the most amazing flush of blooms already for me. The blooms are so unique and the soft peach/cream color is truly dreamy! It's also been blackspot free for me...which is a big deal in my no spray south central PA garden. (Posted on 6/2/2017)
Heavenly!Review by KJC
I love all David Austin roses but this one is outstanding! Thank you Heirloom Roses for growing such a wonderful specimen. My rose is thriving and blooming like mad! (Posted on 1/16/2017)
