I have a poor sniffer, so when I opened my back door one morning and got bowled over by a wonderful scent, I knew it had to be a pretty potent, heady one. It didn't take me long to isolate the scent to Lyda Rose, one of the potted roses I'd gotten from Heirloom the day before. Lyda Rose definitely has a more stronger scent in the mornings and night-time. Her blooms do look like apple blossoms and she blooms almost non-stop. There were times when she had only a few blooms and others when she was covered in them. She's performed so well her first year, I'm eager to see how she'll develop as she grows and matures her second and subsequent years. I live in Coastal Texas, Zone 9b.

I live in Northern California and have a lot of shade in my garden. I have over a dozen Lyda roses and they are a standout, with a huge flush of blooms in June which keep going to the end of the summer. A fabulous rose for those who have shade, and they do quite well in sun also. A favorite.

I grew up in England , my Father had a lovely garden and he gave me my first rose bush when I was very young. Taught me how to graft roses before I was a teen. Now very old I live in zone10bCalifornia . Different growing conditions. My new favourite is Lyda. I realize that the marvelous scent reminds me of English primroses. I haven’t experienced that scent in decades. I still love the bigger more impressive flowers of other roses but Lyda has a special place in my heart.

What a wonderful rose! Arrived in a small pot and was planted June 8th. I gave her a lot of compost and a couple doses of compost tea, but no fish emulsion because my of my dog. She has bloomed continuously for the past 2 weeks and is still putting out buds. Pretty much covered with blossoms. Bees are happy! 3-4 hours of morning sun and another 4 hours or so in the afternoon. 18” tall and 27” wide. Not leggy at all with this much light.
