It’s no surprise that all the reviews for Blue Girl fawn over her lavender-blue color and intense, lilac-rose fragrance. She is as close to blue as roses come! Classic, high-pointed, 5" blooms grow on strong stems with upright growth and minimal thorns. This continual bloomer features mid-green, matte leaves and was a winner of the Rome Gold Medal. If you love Blue Girl, check out Poseidon as well!

Dizzying fragrance.
Dizzying Fragrance.

Kind of a wimpy rose but SO worth it. The most fragrant rose I have ever had. Had one at a house many years ago and always wanted another one. This one I planted in a big wine barrel planter right by the front door so every visitor must stand beside it at the door. One rose in a bud vase in the guest bathroom and it’s overpowering. Pure heaven to smell.

One of my favorite roses

I planted it and within two weeks I had a tiny bloom. It had a strong scent for such a small flower !! The following week I had another one ready to open up and it was larger than the first. The fragrance is enchanting !!

Most fragrant, lovely lavender rose

I've had this rose bush for about 2 months and it is blooming like crazy!

Beautiful even first year

I missed out last year ordering so I told myself I would definitely do it this year. I ordered two bushes and planted in early June. Purchased the fish fertilizer as well. Both have already produced blooms in early September in zone 6b. Definitely looking into ordering some more roses from this site.

Worth the wait

Blue Girl is a wonderful rose for the patient grower. I grow her in 2 locations in 8b. First the drawbacks. It gets black spot very easily here in the South. I must use BioAdvanced. Even with room to grow. It is not a prolific bloomer for the first few years. This is at least my fourth year of growing this rose and finally I’m seeing more than 3 blooms. The only two things I’ve narrowed down to finally getting a lot of blooms and babying it are feeding it Founders Fish fertilizer and age.. As noted by another reviewer, this rose will not stand up to a downpour and your blooms will be scattered on the ground.

Now for the good news! If you can tolerate the flaws and work around its weaknesses, this rose is one of the most gorgeous lavender roses in bloom. I bounce between it and Poseidon as my favorite in bloom. It’s fragrance filled my porch! It can get very tall too. It’s beauty and fragrance makes the hard work and patience worth the wait!
