Morning Has Broken™

Type: Shrub

One of Heirloom's finest shrub roses from our hybridizing program. Bred from 'Graham Thomas' X 'Gold Badge'. An outstanding yellow shrub. It took a very special rose to earn the name 'Morning Has Broken' which is an old Scottish hymn and Louise's favorite song for many years. The most beautiful, rich yellow, semi-double 3 1/2" blooms (petals 15) change ever so gradually to soft yellow and literally cover the bush. Holds up well in the heat. Another outstanding attribute is that it is one of the most disease resistant , repeat blooming roses on the market today.

One of my favorites!Review by Linda
I’m from So. California and I was beyond surprised to see how beautifully my own-root roses did in our searing summer heat. One of the best — constantly in bloom with flowers that stay beautiful for days in the heat — is Morning Has Broken. I bought the plant because it was beautiful but also because the song had always been a favorite. They both have the same effect. They make me smile. The first thing I do in the morning is go out and check my roses, and when I come to Morning, I can’t help but smile. It’s healthy, beautiful, and it makes me smile. (Posted on 9/29/2018)
Fabulous rose!Review by Infatuated with Roses
Morning Has Broken first caught my eye with its meaningful name, making it the perfect memorial gift. It has been a big hit with the recipient, performing well in zone 5-6 with almost-continuous bloom despite having less than full sun. Outstanding rose! (Posted on 9/10/2018)
Lovely YellowReview by Grace
We have 3 of Morning Has Broken. All bloom beautifully. The drawback in our garden here in the PNW is that the spring rains bring both rust and blackspot to these roses. We have an organic garden and do not spray, so we spend time removing affected leaves. By the way, the scent of this rose is heavenly! (Posted on 4/28/2018)
Close to foolproofReview by Selenesmom
Morning is going strong in my front yard in Portland OR area after 10 years. Loads of blooms May thru late fall, plant is shrubby, maybe 5 feet at most, and low maintenance for a rose. I buy all my roses at Heirloom because they are so healthy. Have even had one grow back where I thought I had pulled it up. (Posted on 5/23/2017)
Never disappointingReview by EmmaLou
Have had this rose in a 3-5 gallon container for years. It doesn't complain and provides bountiful, extra fragrant blossoms. (Posted on 5/8/2017)
Beautiful, fragrant yellow roseReview by AH
A hardy, fragrant yellow rose with dark green, shiny leaves. (Posted on 5/1/2017)
Happy in NCReview by Cabbie
I received my rose with a bud on it and am anxiously awaiting the opening. I am hoping this rose is as disease resistant as it is supposed to be as we are constantly fighting aphids and black spot here. The rose arrived in great shape even though the box was slightly damaged. (Posted on 4/25/2017)
