What is not to love about this dreamy David Austin Shrub? With large, pink clustered blooms that slowly fade to soft lilac and are traced with carmine-pink edges, these blooms spill out over the glossy, green foliage. The very double, cupped petals emit the sweetest, fruit fragrance. The Mill on the Floss, named after the novel by George Eliot, is the romantic touch rosarians dream about. This rose even thrives in partial shade. We recommend planting in groupings of three or more for a fuller shrub and continuous blooms.

An Amazing Rose

Mill on the Floss is now one of my favorite roses out of fifty roses in my garden! Beautiful flowers with an amazing fragrance. I can't wait to see them on their second season in my garden. Super happy with this rose!

Gorgeous

Planted this rose in late March 2023 (zone 5b/6a), had buds by mid June, covered in buds and (small but gorgeous) flowers by late July. Love it!

Two Buds

I have been eying this rose and ordered The Mill on The Floss immediately when it came back in stock. I requested that it be shipped as soon as possible. Then, I started reading reviews from online rose forums. I was devastated, almost every comment about this rose was negative, many stating that they could not get the rose to bloom. When I received the rose, I planted according to Heirloom Roses guidance, including incorporating the worm compost and bone meal. Today, I walked by and saw 2 buds, I was ecstatic! There may actually be more buds, but I was so happy to see the two, that I didn’t think to inspect further (garden dance). I do not know what the future holds for this rose, but today, it’s performing spectacularly. Perhaps it was the initial care provided by the Heirloom Roses team, but when they’re not in my rose garden, I take full credit for the health and beauty of my roses! ; )
