Courageous has an irresistible and very strong rose and berry perfume wafting from old-fashioned, heavily petaled 4” blooms in a deep, rich red. He can be grown as a Climber or as a Shrub. This continually blooming rose should find a place in every garden not only for the quality of the plant and flowers but for the symbolism of its name. Courageous is named to honor the airmen of the Royal Air Force and the U.S. Army Air Corps who served in WWII.

One tough little rose - truly is Courageous.

I bought this rose this spring (2023) and I had originally planted this him in my main flower bed which has overhead irrigation. But with our incredibly hot summer and 7 AM watering I thought it would dry quickly. Nope. He got black spot anyway. Totally my fault. So after getting advice from Heirloom Roses I put him in a large pot and treated him for black spot which quickly cleared up and left him potted until I could replant in a new bed in the fall. The repotting did not stop him and he kept growing, and blooming, despite this being his first year.. And then some Japanese Beetles moved in and started munching on him and my other roses. Within days we was almost nibbled down to the ground so I carefully treated him with a spray and the damage was halted and he quickly replaced all the foliage he had lost. In September. I was finally able to get him in the ground in his new bed and he is doing great! I was so taken with this rose being a tribute to the RAF and other military that fought in WWII and he has so lived up to his name. I look forward to him really taking off next year. He is an incredibly tough rose.

Climbing roses for a deck pergola

I recently added a pergola to my deck and wanted climbing roses for the four posts. I planted each of four Courageous Climbing Roses in large pots. Within a day of planting them, new growth appeared! I can’t wait for spring to watch them continue to grow and bloom. Thank you, Heirloom Roses!!

Beautiful Color

This rose arrived in March and already has at least a dozen blooms! (It's July) I ordered in honor of my father's and grandfather's military service. I loved the descripton of this rose being a tribute to air military participants. The color is beautiful. I'm in zone 10B

Blossoming newbie

I’ve never been good at roses but really wanted to give it a go. Been looking forward to this since I ordered in December and here we are! I’m so excited but nervous about keeping it healthy. Being a military family this particular variety struck a cord and I wanted a climber so fingers crossed it grows handsome and tall. This first bloom has captured my heart ♥️

Best Roses EVER

It's been less than a year and these are blooming like crazy. They are strong plants and they stay well after cutting and are strongly fragrant. They are so beautiful, they make one's eyes shine with joy.
