If You Are A Hopeless Romantic...

...then this is the rose for you. It simply screams lace dresses and tea on the veranda. Gorgeous full, quartered blooms, lovely pink, healthy foliage, fragrance to die for. It did OK in a nasty heat wave, but I gave it some shade. Several people have mentioned it being MUCH bigger than advertised, so I'm trying to be ready for that b/c in 3 months, in a pot, it is already demanding a good bit of space. It got a tad of mildew before I could move it out of the fall shade, so I'd say sun, but cool temps is its favorite way to be. I adore this rose & once I see about its size, I may want more of them!

Heatwave

I’m scared to planet them out side during the heatwave. I don’t want to loose them.

Lovely

It really is romantic. Layers and layers of beautiful pale pink clusters.
Love.

Way bigger than advertised

At the end of my second summer in zone 7A with this rose, my experience is that it indeed throws octopus arms and is already much larger than advertised (4 ft x 3 ft). One cane is more than 6 feet long, the next longest is about 5’6”. It’s already about 3.5 feet wide. Make sure you give it plenty of space. SR bloomed heavily in late May and was gorgeous. Got about half a dozen more in the next flush but nothing since.

NOT for dry heat

Summer Romance is beautiful and smells like jelly beans.
Unfortunately, once temps hit 80 degrees in California, the blooms shrivel, even before they fully open. So first flush is gorgeous, the rest of the year MAYBE you can cut them and bring inside.
Also it tends to throw octopus arms--you have to prune throughout the year to manage.
