Sharifa Asma®

Type: David Austin

A charming rose of exquisite delicacy. The double 4 1/2" blooms (petals 50+) are shallow cupped at first and gradually reflex to form a perfect rosette. The color is the most delicate blush pink, fading to almost white on the outer petals. A short, rather upright continual blooming bush. Exquisite sweet/fruity fragrance. One of the most beautiful English Roses. Outstanding in every way.

Bloomed right away!Review by Deborah

I live in Oregon and loved visiting Heirloom Old Garden Roses in the past. I ordered this rose this summer and it bloomed almost immediately. Can't wait to see what it does next summer. (Posted on 10/13/2018)
Ethereal Blooms and Incredible ScentReview by Lisa B.

I live in Colorado, at about 6,500 feet, which is zone 4-5. I adore my Sharifa Asma rose, which I've had for about 10 years. The flowers are just sublime -- white, with incredibly lovely blush pink centers with yellow stamens, and the scent is the most beautiful I've ever smelled. I wish I could find a perfume that smells exactly like this rose! It has a rich, resonant fruity scent, clean and sweet, but not cloying. I planted mine in heavy clay soil with part shade (big mistake). It lived and bloomed, but never more than a handful of blooms, and it never grew more than about 18" tall. I finally transplanted it last year, moving it to a south-facing, sunny garden bed with really good soil. It's growing better, but still hasn't produced more than a handful of flowers. I'm going to order a new one from Heirloom Roses, to see how it might do in a big pot on my deck, so I can enjoy the scent. Even if it produces only a few blooms per year, the scent and beauty of this rose is well worth it. I'm giving it 5 stars for beauty and scent. For size/growth and number of blooms, I'd give it a 3. Don't forget the leaves...Review by CorgiDeb

I live in Zone7, north of Seattle, Wa. In a yard that has very little room left for roses, I have 3 of these. They are just that lovely! I have won the fragrance award in the Tri Valley Rose show-I still don't know why a perfumier has not purchased the right to formulate a fragrance on Sharifa's notes, I would buy stock in the company. The blooms are beauties, particularly with their dark green leathery foliage for a back ground. Love love love her. (Posted on 5/28/2018)

Sharifa Asma survived the first summer with hight heat of zone 10. Some young buds were dry and turned brown. The bloomers are beautiful and fragrant. Love English roses. (Posted on 1/19/2018)

Beautiful rose, Lovely scentReview by Beth

I bought this rose because of its reputation as one of the most wonderfully scented roses, to plant in my new Scented Garden. It has bloomed and increased in size quite well in the several months that I've had it, and I love the scent and subtle color of the blooms, which it has had many of even in this short time. Highly recommended. (Posted on 8/11/2017)

I have grown dozens and dozens of roses of every type and color, with and without fragrance, for over 50 years. Sharifa Asma is without a doubt my all-time favorite. She looks delicate but is actually tough and irresistibly lovely. And yes, her fragrance IS to die for. (Posted on 5/31/2017)

15 plus years in Northern IN. Review by PicalilySuzanne

I have this rose..My mother planted three rose plants. It's been in front of my porch for 15 plus years. I have to comment on how hardy this rose is...I live in Northern Indiana and I just picked a leftover bloom 2 days before THANKSGIVING! (Nov 22 today) Not a fluke, every year it blooms even after first frost. It's a tiny bloom but just as fragrant as every bloom before it. I have 3 plants that have survived all these years in temps that dip into negative double digits. Fragrance is the best, I describe it as lemony/fruity/spice (Posted on 11/22/2016)

I have 20 or 30 David Austin roses, many for almost 20 years. Sharifa is my favorite, a bountiful producer with an exotic fragrance. Strong grower to about 5' in Porftland, Oregon and relatively free of the usual black-spot. My first choice of Austin roses. (Posted on 6/4/2014)
