Sterling Silver

Type: Hybrid Tea

Sterling Silver is the true and original lavender rose, being nearly thornless and having a sweet and citrusy fragrance. The parent or ancestor of nearly every single modern lavender variety today.

This rose should be grown by an experienced gardener and may be slightly challenging for the first two years, however, once it becomes established it is a fabulous rose.

We are no longer growing Sterling Silver but will maintain this listing for reference purposes.

saddened that this is no longer available. Review by StephFair
This rose was given to me for my second mothers day in 1993, I dug it up every time I moved. The last move I made to the desert and it stayed with muy house when I sold it because I was told they wouldn't liver in the desert. My son brought me one for mothers day in 2009 and she is thriving beautifully in 60%shade. But now if I move she will be moving with me. Im still working on getting all the roses my grandmother gave me every mothers day beings she is no longer with us. (Posted on 5/10/2018)
Stunning!Review by Orchidgirl58
I had been searching for this rose bush ever since my sister got married and the rose was part of our bouquets (40yrs ago!) I was THRILLED when I found it at Heirloom Roses!
I planted it in June, and I have enjoyed several wonderful blooms already. A few days ago I cut the largest one to date so I can enjoy this beauty indoors.
I want to mention that I live in Michigan. So far, all of the roses that I have purchased from Heirloom Roses are doing fantastic! (Posted on 9/18/2017)
Old favoriteReview by April
I've wanted a Sterling Silver rose for many years but was concerned that the plant would be difficult to keep healthy. I haven't found another rose that has the same blue lavender color and heavenly scent, so finally just ordered one from Heirloom. It has had several lovely flowers its first year, and has some susceptibility to black spot here in rainy Seattle, but my little rose is growing well. Now I wonder why I waited so long to try this old favorite! (Posted on 8/3/2017)
AmazingReview by Justin
This rose is absolutely wonderful. I only buy my roses from Heirloom as they truly are spectacular plants. I have bought roses from local garden centers and big box stores, but they do not perform or even last as long as the ones I have ordered from Heirloom. Sterling Silver has stunnng blossoms and is very fragrant. I received it in April and it has bloomed 4 times since then. It has grown fast and the color of the blossom is so unique. Every time i see a bud, I get excited because I can't wait for it to be in full bloom to experience the beauty of the flower and the scent. Truly a must have for any rose lover's garden! GREAT ROSEReview by Colleen
This rose is so lovely, and easy to grow and care for. I have 3 that I bought locally as bare root roses and they are thriving in their first year with me. Beautiful big flowers with an angelic lavender colour and that sweet fragrance make them a pleasure to have. My flower beds are actually concrete and have a low sprinkler system and my roses are doing very well.

Wonderful RoseReview by Merl
Sterling Silver Rose

One of the first roses I planted. I wanted roses so badly that I planted them in part shade as we have several large trees in our backyard. Sterling Silver is a lavender beauty with a wonderful fragrance. Must grown in full sun to survive and thrive. Struggles in part shade for several years, until it goes with sadness for its owner. Planting this one in full sun next time. (Posted on 1/28/2017)

Love itReview by nupur
This is a lovely rose. With lavender shadow to make it really exotic. The fragarance is really lovely. Is very disease resistant and a tough plant.

I will highly recommend it. (Posted on 5/28/2016)
Distinctive strong scented old Hybid TeaReview by flowergirl
My dad grew this when it first came out in 1957. It produces beautiful flowers, with a strong distinctive scent. Not the healthiest or strongest bush, but it's flowers are special, a beautiful shade of lavender. The perfume is exquisite. Even in sunny California, it's prone to blackspot. Dad never sprayed, but despite the blight, it still bloomed . (Posted on 2/6/2016)
